Small Potatoes
By Chris

Small Potatoes is my first solo album and first album for kids. It has 13 songs on it. It’s very good. You should buy it for your kids, or your parents, or your friends, or for anyone. It is available in music stores now and on iTunes. You can also order the CD now at MapleMusic. You can listen to samples below before you buy. It would make a great gift for the kids in your life.
I really hope you like it because it was a ton of fun to make. I had written some songs for an educational program a couple of years ago and realized that I really liked writing for kids. I kept writing and with lots of help in the studio from my pal David Matheson we got the album done. Hopefully it’s an album that kids will love and parents will love too.
The reviews and such are already coming in. Canadian Parents thought Small Potatoes was a “great find” that will “entertain and delight young children and their parents.” Also, here is a write up from Inside Toronto. The March issue of Today’s Parent magazine has a nice review saying that Chris Patterson “writes for kids, balancing unbridled silly and serious.”
Once you’ve heard it, please leave me a comment and tell me what you think or where you think I should be playing live.
I made a page over at Youtube and have posted my first music video there.
Here is a picture of The Backyardigans and me at our recent show in Hamilton.

You might also enjoy my very first piece of fan art. It was drawn by Michael and it’s Quatchi the Olympic Mascot with some Small Potatoes. Thanks for the artwork, Michael!!

I had JUST managed to control my desire to produce offspring. But this and these songs and and and. Now I want babies again.
In other words, these are adorable and I can’t wait to buy my copy but I have no children to share it with.

Just listened to Small Potatoes with five young children and it was a hit! My daughter danced to it from beginning to end, while my niece didn’t budge from her perch beside the speaker so as not to miss one hilarious lyric. Best of all, it’s music Dad can listen to as well. Thanks for giving me a way to be an instant hero! Play in D.C.!

Wait…. Rippy the Gator ISN’T a kids song???? What about “Me Like Hockey?” and “Last Pirate?”……. ; )
My toddler son really liked these songs— the older girls (4 and 6) are hardcore Worms fans instead…….

If I had a time machine, I’d hand this CD to the Three Wise Men so they could give it to Jesus. Far more enjoyable than Frankincense.
Kudos Chris Patterson!!!

Hi Chris, my children just listened to your cd and I wish I could have captured the expressions on their faces, something like “he really gets us!” That’s pretty cool! Leo (4) and Mia (6) sang along to the covers (with a twist) and had fun hearing the originals. You’re very talented – good luck with the launch!

My 7 year old and her friend spent the whole afternoon listening to this cd (singing along and debating which song was their favourite)… I think the whole cd is just fantastic! Thank you so much – it’s age appropriate, fun and catchy…exactly what we welcome in our lives!!

Small potatoes is awesome in the classroom!!! We have taken on the project of getting our kids in grade 6 to write their own songs and your CD and story has really helped to give them some understanding as well as motivate them to become artists themselves!! Next comes recording and making music videos!! Although Small potatoes is meant for the younger guys, it hasn’t stopped these 11 and 12 year olds to be singing and dancing along. AND that is no small potatoes!!! Thanks Chris!!!

As a long-time Worms fan, I expected something great from Chris, but this is even better than my expectations. I bought a CD for my grandsons and now I want to keep it for myself! Love the music, love the lyrics, and I know the boys will, too.
